A Sales Tip for Sales Presentations
This sales tip can help salespeople make more effective presentations. Think about the notion of using movement to help create a positive selling environment.
This movement isn’t about bouncing around. It is about identifying the space in which you are selling, thinking of this space as an actress would think about her stage, and maximizing the use of this space.
One way you can use movement is to accentuate information, to punctuate facts, and to help your audience understand that you are making transitions in the material you are covering.
Here is an example.
When you are making a Powerpoint presentation in a large room, stand still when you are going through one section of material. Stand in one space off to one side of your stage.
Then, walk across this space to the other side and stand still.
Time this movement, this purposeful stroll from one side to the other to dovetail with a change in topic. If you are finished with the four bullet points on the slide, don’t walk across the room in the middle of your bullet points.
Stand still for them. Then walk across the room to start the following slide.
The movement of your body is paid attention to. You are being watched as you are being heard. When your audience sees that your movement is coordinated with your material, the effectiveness of your communication is strengthened.
